Rich, chocolaty overnight oats with bursting, sweet blood orange flavours. This is a family favourite.

If you have been following me for a while you will know that the chocolate - orange combination is one of my favourites. Using blood oranges makes that even better!

WHAT ARE BLOOD ORANGES AND WHAT DO THEY TASTE LIKE

Blood oranges are similar to regular oranges but have a deep red colour. They have a more floral, generally sweeter and less acidic than regular oranges, with hints of raspberry flavours.

They make a delicious juice as they are less acidic, but are also great to bake with, eat fresh or to add to breakfasts, such as this breakfast.

Blood oranges are high in Vitamin C. In fact, I read the other days that a single blood orange has about 75% of your daily required Vitamin C intake.

Blood orange season is only a short time in the year, therefor we eat as many as we can when they are available.

ORANGE ZEST

Add the orange zest! It greatly enhances the orange flavour in the dish. I recommend to not skip this step.

ON THE GO

Make this the night before in a sealable jar or container to take away. Simply grab it in the morning as it is ready to eat. No excuse to skip breakfast.

DOES IT KEEP?

Yes! It will keep 2 - 3 days in a sealable container, in the fridge.

Make a big batch, enough for the next 3 days. Again, no excuse to say you don't have time for breakfast.
