Updated: Aug 7, 2023

The chocolate-orange flavour combination is one I will never tire off. In this version the oats is cooked with fresh orange juice (only for a few minutes), then chilled until cool and served with a homemade, healthy chocolate sauce and fresh orange segments.

CHOCOLATE SAUCE FOR BREAKFAST

Who doesn't love the idea of pouring chocolate sauce all over their breakfast.

What if I tell you:

This chocolate sauce is healthy and made with only 3 ingredients:
  • cacao powder

  • orange juice

  • maple syrup (optional)

So easy, so quick to make and really delicious! Bring it on...

THE OATS

Cooking the oats for a few minutes before chilling does give it a creamier and firmer texture.

The oats can be cooked the night before and chilled overnight in the fridge or cook the oats in the morning and let it chill for 30min before eating.

The oats can be cooked either in the microwave or on the stovetop.

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS

Serve the oats warm and heat the chocolate sauce to make this a warm breakfast.

OR you can keep this recipe raw make an overnight oats, instead of a cooked, chilled oats.

For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free certified oats.

Finish with fresh orange segments and a sprinkle of cacao nibs to enhance the chocolate-orange combination even more.
