chocolate & blackberry protein oats

Updated: Apr 4

Rich, chocolaty oats, high in nutrients and protein. This is a great post-workout breakfast and tastes just like dessert.

It is no secret that I absolutely love chocolate breakfasts and if it was up to me, we would probably have this at least three or four times a week … I would maybe change it up with blueberries, cherries or orange segments every now and then.

Chocolate Protein Oats

My husband is an endurance runner and therefor I need to make sure he gets the right nutrient intake for muscle tissue recovery and strengthening. By adding a scoop of protein powders to his smoothies and breakfast, such as this one, it gives him that protein boost to help with that.

Combined with the rest of the ingredients, this is perfect for an active person like him.

REASONS YOU WILL LOVE THIS.

It is....

  • creamy

  • rich

  • sweet

  • chocolaty

  • high in protein

  • packed with nutrients

  • and tastes just like dessert

THE PERFECT POST-WORKOUT BREAKFAST

PROTEIN can help reduce muscle soreness and help with the recovery of muscle tissues. Vegans can get enough protein from their diet, but it is important to consume a variety of plant proteins to ensure enough amino acids are included. By adding a scoop of protein powder, it makes it so much easier to get all those important amino acids.

OATS are a good source of protein, are muscle-friendly and are an excellent source of complex carbs, which provide tons of energy and are slower to be released which avoids causing a blood sugar crash. Make sure to use a gluten-free certified oats if required.

BANANAS are a popular food for athletes due to their mineral content and easily digested carbs. They are rich in potassium which is a mineral essential to optimise athletic performance. Bananas may also help reduce cramps and soreness, caused by exercise.

BLACKBERRIES are high in antioxidants that help protect against oxidative stress and free radicals that form in the body during strenuous physical activities.

CACAO and dark chocolate can increase muscle blood flow and may help dilate blood vessels to increase the blood flow for better performance of the heart.
