This dessert is creamy, chocolaty, silky smooth and completely healthy.

Not naughty, but definitely nice! (I just had to)

This recipe is one of our absolute favourites. Healthy, guilt-free and with that silky texture it will curb the ice cream cravings. Honestly, at some point we made this every single week.

WHAT IS NICE CREAM

A nice cream is a sugar-free, dairy-free dessert made by blending frozen fruit into a soft-serve consistency. It was first created as a homemade ice cream substitute for vegans.

Vegan or not, you will still love it!

ALL YOU NEED IS 3 INGREDIENTS

and a high-speed blender to make this indulgent dessert:

  • frozen bananas

  • cacao powder, unsweetened

  • hazelnut or almond milk, if needed

  • xanthan gum (optional)*

*Adding xanthan gum is optional but it will give the nice cream a thicker and smoother consistency.

HOW TO MAKE THIS NICE CREAM

First step is to freeze the bananas. Make sure the bananas are proper ripe. Not-overripe bananas will have a different taste and texture to what you want. The riper the banana, the sweeter and creamier the nice cream.

Peel the over-ripe bananas and cut them into quarters before freezing.

Transfer the frozen bananas into a food processor or high-speed blender and blend until a soft-serve consistency. If necessary add 1/4 cup hazelnut milk, or milk of choice, to make the blending process easier.

Add the cacao and xanthan gum (if using) and give one final blend until well combined.

TIP!

For a soft-serve consistency, serve immediately, alternatively freeze for 30 minutes or so for a firmer ice cream texture.
