easy no bake bliss balls

These easy vegan bliss balls are made with only 5 ingredients and taste a bit like brownie bites, but without the added sugars. These bliss balls get their natural sweetness from the dates and chocolate flavour from the cacao powder.

Grab a couple of these as a healthy, vegan and gluten-free post-workout snack or as a snack for kids and adults alike. A great balance between eating healthy and satisfying that sweet tooth.

WHAT ARE BLISS BALLS

They are versatile healthy, bite-size treats, mostly made with whole foods and added nutrition by adding "superfoods" such as cacao powder, maca powder or protein powders.

INGREDIENTS

These are the 5 ingredients you will need

DATES.

The base for these bliss balls are the dates. I recommend using soft dates as these will make all the difference. If they are a bit dry or hard, soak them in boiling water for about 15min to soften them. Medjool dates are expensive, but have a wonderful caramel flavour. and the perfect texture to combine with the rest of the ingredients. But you can use whichever dates you have available.

CACAO POWDER.

Use an unsweetened, preferable organic cacao powder. Plus, it is a superfood!

RAW ALMONDS.

Use raw, unsalted almonds. Almonds are high in fiber, vitamin E, magnesium and manganese.

You can substitute for other nuts such as cashews or brazil nuts.

ALMOND MILK.

If needed, add a splash of almond milk will make the mixing a lot easier. If you don't have almond milk, you can use any milk of choice.

DESICCATED COCONUT FLAKES.

It adds a delicious flavour and texture.

TO COAT (OPTIONAL)

  • MATCHA POWDER

  • RAW CACAO POWDER

  • DESCICCATED COCONUT

AND THE EQUIPEMENT

Food processor, or a blender if you don't have a food processor.

Make sure to pulse, rather than blending into a paste-like consistency.

HELPFUL TIPS!

If you have a food processor and a blender available, I recommend using the food processor instead. Blenders normally require liquid to be added to make the blending process possible or easier.

Do not blend into a smooth constancy. We still want some texture from the nuts and coconut flakes.

Make a big batch of these and freeze any leftovers.
