Homemade Cashew Milk

A FARMERS DAUGHTER

Believe it or not, I grew up on a Dairy Farm.

My dad has always treated his animals with so much love and respect, and still does. Feeding time in the evenings is one of my favourite memories as a kid living on the farm. We would sit in the trolley with their food (made with ground maize) and each cow would get their feed based on their needs.

I know for my dad it's a bit difficult to understand why I chose to avoid animal products, but I have my personal reasons. I am not judging, but I have to express that it has nothing to do with how animals have been treated on the farm.

M*LKING THE NUT

The first time I made nut milk was in South Africa, about 7 years ago. I had just gone plantbased and there weren't many non-dairy alternatives available where I lived.

I made Almond milk every 3 - 4 days. I loved that it I knew exactly the ingredients in the milk, I could make the exact amount I would need and it had no preservatives or unhealthy additives.

With almond milk it requires a bit more effort as the almond milk needs to be squeezed through a cheese cloth. Making cashew milk is a bit easier to make.

It is honestly soooo easy to make.

Simply pre-soaking cashew nuts.

Draining and rinsing the nuts.

Blending them with filtered water in a high-speed blender until completely smooth!
