Raw Chocolate Brownie Bites

Updated: Jul 16

Bite-size, no-bake brownie bites made with healthy ingredients and are ready in about 10 minutes.

I have made many energy bites before. Bliss balls, energy bites... whatever you want to call them.

These are by far my favourite ones. They are not too sweet, not too bitter and the taste reminds me of brownies.

Made with a only a few ingredients, these bites are raw, date sweetened and make a healthy, delicious snack.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED

WALNUTS

Walnuts are one of the healthiest nuts and are rich in nutrients and antioxidants. They are a great source of omega 3s and healthy fats.

ALMONDS

I used ground almonds, but you can also use raw almonds and blend them into a ground floury consistency before adding them to the rest of the ingredients.

Almonds are a great source of calcium. They are great for your skin and can also aid weight loss.

HEMP SEEDS

They are a great source of omega-6 fatty acids and may help regulate hormonal imbalances and inflammation.

TAHINI PASTE

Same as the hemp seeds, tahini may help support hormone balance. Tahini is also rich in healthy fats, rich in antioxidants and is also a great source of calcium and magnesium. It is said that it may contribute to strengthen our central nervous system.

CACAO POWDER

This adds the chocolate bit to the brownie bites. Cacao is a good source of potassium and iron, as well as protein and fibre. Due to being rich in monounsaturated fats, it can help keep your heart healthy.

MEDJOOL DATES

This is another ingredient that can help improve hormone regulation. They are a good source of energy and are also full of antioxidants.

VANILLA

I love adding a bit of vanilla extract for the flavours.

AND A PINCH OF SEA SALT

To balance the flavours.

HOW TO MAKE HEALTHY BROWNIE BITES

Start by soaking the raw walnuts in hot water for a few minutes, to soften. This is optional, but it does make them easier to blend.

Drain the walnuts and blend them in a food processor into a rough crumb.

Add the remaining ingredients and blend until well combined and forms a sticky crumb.

Remove the mixture from the blender and roll into 12 even individual balls.

You can dust them in additional cacao or keep them as they are.

Transfer them to an airtight container and let them chill in the fridge for a bit to firm up.

TOO STICKY

If the mixture feels too sticky, you can always add a bit more ground almonds or hemp seeds. The date bites will however still firm up as the cacao powder will absorb some of the moisture.

TOO CRUMBLY

Depending on the softness/ freshness of the dates using, you might have to add a bit of water or almond milk to make it easier to roll into balls. Rolling them in cacao at the end will also absorb some of the moisture.
