Tahini & Banana Oats
Updated: Jul 30
Sweet, creamy, nutty and comforting. This flavour combination is a must try.
This is one of my favourite breakfasts. The creamy, nutty flavour from the tahini, combined with the sweet banana and warming oats. Finished with a handful of tart, dried mulberries and a bit of homemade granola (you know, for the crunch), yes please!
THE INGREDIENTS
To make this you will need
rolled oats, gluten-free if needed
oat or almond milk (or milk of choice) or water
a banana
a good quality runny tahini
a few dried mulberries (optional)
homemade granola (optional)
and a dusting of cinnamon
HOT OR COLD
This breakfast tastes great hot or cold.
You can make a simple overnight oats if you don't like cooked oats. Simply mix the rolled oats with milk of choice to soak overnight and add rest of the ingredients to finish.
If you like baked oats, why not try this baked banana & tahini oats version.
CREAMY COOKED OATS
Some people prefer cooking the oats in water, whereas others prefer milk. I like using half almond milk and half water to make it creamy, but not too rich.
If you want to make it even creamier I suggest adding half a mashed banana into the oats for the last few minutes of the cooking time.

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS
Substitute the tahini for nut or seed butter.
Replace the granola with chopped or flaked almonds.
If you don't have dried mulberries, you can use any dried fruit you like.
