Vanilla Matcha Latte
Made with only a few ingredients, this creamy Vanilla Matcha latte is comforting, sweet and energy boosting. Perfect when you need a little pick-me-up in the afternoon.
WHAT IS MATCHA
Traditionally from East Asia, it is a green tea that is ground into a very fine powder. It is high in antioxidants, will give you glowing skin and can improve hormone balance. The chlorophyll content in Matcha binds heavy metals and toxins in the body, helping to remove them through the digestive system. It does contain caffeine, but less than coffee.
Make sure to use a good quality as Matcha powders of a poorer quality can be very bitter.
HOW TO MAKE THE LATTE
You will need hot water, a whisk (matcha whisk if you have) or a milk frother.
Add a bit of hot water to your matcha powder and whisk to dissolve the powder in the water. I use a milk frother stick as I don't have a matcha whisk. Yet.
Heat up the oat milk, vanilla and maple syrup and use the milk frother again to make aa luxurious frothy latte.
Pour the hot milk over the matcha and enjoy!
If you don't have a milk frother you can also make this latte by adding all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
THE INGREDIENTS
This recipe is vegan and made with oat-milk. In addition you will need a good quality Matcha powder, hot water, vanilla extract (or vanilla bean) and a liquid sweetener such as maple syrup or honey (optional).
If you don't have oat milk you can use soy, coconut or almond milk, or any milk of your choice.
Make sure to use vanilla extract or scrape the inside of a vanilla bean to make it even more luxurious. Don't use vanilla essence.
Other sweeteners you can use are coconut sugar or agave syrup.
MAKE IT ICED
For warmer days you can easily turn this into an iced latte. Simply add a few ice cubes and use cold milk, instead of heated milk. Simple!

INGREDIENTS
1 tsp matcha powder
1/4 cup hot water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp maple syrup or honey (optional)
3/4 cup oat milk
INSTRUCTIONS
Add the matcha and hot water to a wider mug and whisk vigorously using a matcha whisk or a frother.
Add the vanilla and maple syrup (if using).
Heat and froth the oat milk using a milk frother. Pour the frothy oat milk over the matcha mixture.
Stir if desired and enjoy!
